Little Red Riding Hood

I always enjoy combining analogue with digital. That is exactly what I did with this assignment. Hatching is a drawing technique that I really enjoy doing.
Process
As a first step, I looked at what the fairy tale entails and what the most important events in the story are.
A number of important events are:
- Little Red Riding Hood walking through the forest
- Little Red Riding Hood meeting the wolf
- Little Red Riding Hood arriving at grandmother's house
- The wolf eating grandmother and then dressing up as her
- the basket containing the cookies

From Based on these events I made a number of sketches for a potential book cover.
Based on the results of my sketches, I went for the first sketch. I could already see what I wanted it to look like. I wanted it to have something mysterious and I felt like I could express that in this sketch.
Because I wanted to create a mysterious atmosphere, I made a mood/style board to capture the atmosphere a bit, which would help me in the follow-up process.
Then it was time to put it on paper!
The hatching was done and I had two beautiful hatched book covers. This just had to be made into a whole, with a title, author, etc. To do this, I looked carefully at the placement of the text and the typography. I did this in Adobe Photoshop.
